Music Review by
Brower Entertainment Name of musician/band: Ashley J Name of Single: Satisfied Type of music: Pop, Electronica Overall impressions: When the intro started playing and I first heard Ashley J’s voice without looking at the photos, I imagined a young teenager between the ages of 16 to 18 singing the song. I immediately thought of Ashley J as a well-developed young pop singer. Listening further, I began to think of her as an Electronica singer. Her voice is so young sounding. It reminds me of the young Taylor Swift. The lyrics of the song also put me in mind of the music being for the young teen community as they would envelop the words and beats as they are trying to figure out their fresh feelings of being with their new love. Her voice and the beats stands out in the low and in the high of the song. When the song hits a low, I begin to feel like there is something missing. I find myself asking, why is it slowing down? I still wanna jam! But that might just be me, trying to turn this pop song in to a club dance song. I began to research the difference and found this interesting read blog by Jillian Gehring, (http://www.musicstats.org/electronic-vs-pop-rock-fans-contrasting-their-perceptions-and-behaviors/). Ashley J has a great voice and I love the mixture of beats. The song just need something more to make it go “pow” to make me want to stay on the dance floor and boogie down if that is direction she would want to take it. Ashley J’s new single is to be release on January 26, 2018. Stay tuned. Name of musician/band: Ravenscroft Song: “My Dearest One Type of music: Rock Ballet Overall impressions: The intro and melody of this song is peaceful and lovely. The song and lyrics remind me of the sound track for the movie “Get Him to the Greek” with the fictitious British rock star Aldous Snow, played by Russel Brand. It gives me the feel good feeling I remember feeling when I watched that part in the move. This is a song I believe that soothes the crowd that have been listening to a high intensity metal concert and it’s time for a break of reflection and memory while resting their brains before jumping back into the moment of metal music. Nice change of pace, flow of music, and well put together. How does this CD or song compare to others by this group or artist? This song fits into the sound of the latest rock ballets currently out on the market. Name of musician/band: Ravenscroft Song: “The Chase” Type of music: Metal/Hard Rock Overall impressions: Listening without the assistance of the video I initially felt this is the new age of mixing hard rock with soft rock lyrics. It took some getting used to listing to both hard rock and rock lyrics, yet it grew on me. It’s interesting. Usually when listening to metal music, it’s not so easy initially understanding the lyrics. This combination of music and lyrics allows me to understand the lyrics while noting that it is a metal sound in the background. This is confusing for an old school rock head like myself. Do I sing or do I bang my head against the air? I didn’t know which way to respond. I usually take to rock music and steer from most metal music. I am forced to take them both in this listening. I find it strange, cool, and adaptable. The hook at the end may be a catchy piece, yet it ends so abruptly, it doesn’t give me enough time to sink it in to my brain loop. The video, on the other hand, helped me appreciate and respect the song more intensely. I love that the lyrics are shown on the video to help navigate the storyline along with the visual on the video. I love the marketing aspect of the video with the interlude playing while all the information is listing on how to obtain the music for listening and purchasing. The up to date marketing is clever. This song is in line with emerging sounds collaborating together mixing worlds of genres; making the new modern sound of music. How does this CD or song compare to others by this group or artist? The band has a look like that of Black Sabbath or Kiss and the sound of the collaboration of general metal music mixed with general rock music . . . which makes it unique. Name of Single: Broke But Happy Type of music: R&B Overall impression: The Bible states: If I have the gift of . . . and If I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:2 It’s nice when you come across a feel good song. And Evan has created a great feel good song. I believe the scripture sums up this song and the song sums up the scripture. Love is the epitome of everything. You can be broke and still be happy if you have love. The words of his song walks us through the situations of life and we hope to come out just fine in the end. I Love the flow of this song. It is professionally done and ready for the world to hear. This song reeks of truth. The melody sends you to the feel good place. Can’t you see me holding my teddy bear right now swaying back and forth to the modernized old school beat. Thinking of love and happiness. How does this CD or song compare to others by this group or artist? Evan has a voice and musical style that reminds me of Al Green with his “Love and Happiness” song. Brower Entertainment Name of musician/band: Electric Radio Kings Name of Single: Grabbing at a Distant Star Type of music: Rock Overall impressions: Well-developed rock song. Vocals blend very well. Intro is great and so is the outro. The lead vocalist has a great raspy voice, the kind audiences like. He sounds like he can hype up a crowd in 0 to 30 seconds. It’s the kind of song that makes the crowd start jumping up and down to the rhythm as soon as they hear the first bar. Everything is well blended in this song. The video can be more entertaining with live footage but it is also well executed to get more information out to that social media channel. How does this CD or song compare to others by this group or artist? The song is totally marketable. The hook can be remembered quickly, as most segments are a few sentences long and the hook is right there to follow possibly more than normal. The song is cleverly executed for chanting memorability. Music Review Name of musician/band: Bizza Caviar Name of Single: Satellite Type of music: Rap Overall impressions: This is one of those songs that does not sound like it is completely developed yet. It has a catchy mundane sound. If it were to go to market, it seems like it can best be picked up by shopping it around to a bunch of low budget film directors for submission as background music. This song doesn’t feel like a hit at the moment. The writer sounds young a newly experienced in songwriting. But this should not hold him back. The style seems to have some type of mystery to it. There is something in his craft, but he needs to develop it more. He is an interesting songwriter. He seems good with words. I like the arrangement of the music during the … na, na, na, na, part of the song, etc. The intro and exit are quite different. The hook grows on you after you listen to it several times. You kinda wait for the na, na, na part to come to enjoy it thoroughly. Its music that can be used somewhere. The world just needs to figure out where it can be used. How does this CD or song compare to others by this group or artist? He kind of reminds me of the sounds of Kid Cudi and his song - Day 'N' Nite . Good luck - Young Son. Seems quite fitting for the pop genre. The music video was eye catching for the modern pop times. The song is upbeat and modern. The young men were Fresh! It is a good song overall. The song does not match the video. The song is talking about a party. The video focuses on a girl walking on the beach. I lost the connection while watching the video. Great catchy hook “It’s only U”. Great words to repeat while you’re moving your body to the beat on the dance floor. It’s a memorable hook. The foreign language sprinkled on the song ads a lot of spice to the song. How does this CD or song compare to others by this group or artist? This dance song can stand against the best dance songs out there. It falls right in line with most popular pop dance songs that are on the market today. Extremely marketable music.
