When the intro started playing and I first heard Ashley J’s voice without looking at the photos, I imagined a young teenager between the ages of 16 to 18 singing the song. I immediately thought of Ashley J as a well-developed young pop singer. Listening further, I began to think of her as an Electronica singer. Her voice is so young sounding. It reminds me of the young Taylor Swift. The lyrics of the song also put me in mind of the music being for the young teen community as they would envelop the words and beats as they are trying to figure out their fresh feelings of being with their new love. Her voice and the beats stands out in the low and in the high of the song. When the song hits a low, I begin to feel like there is something missing. I find myself asking, why is it slowing down? I still wanna jam! But that might just be me, trying to turn this pop song in to a club dance song. I began to research the difference and found this interesting read blog by Jillian Gehring, (http://www.musicstats.org/electronic-vs-pop-rock-fans-contrasting-their-perceptions-and-behaviors/).
Ashley J has a great voice and I love the mixture of beats. The song just need something more to make it go “pow” to make me want to stay on the dance floor and boogie down if that is direction she would want to take it.
Ashley J’s new single is to be release on January 26, 2018. Stay tuned.
